London DNB Heads Up

Monday, 25 January 2010 at 18:17
Just a quick one. If you're gonna be in London on February 20th, hit this.

http://wodnb.com/events/wodnb-sessions-london/

A tasty line up, sure. Plus, it's at the Den. But have a look at the MCs.

WARREN G! The hip hop legend is gonna be making an appearance spitting his G-funk style over drum and bass. Legendary.

Bugged Out vs Trailer Trash NYE

Tuesday, 29 December 2009 at 16:08

Party people! The mother of diary dates is here, new years eve. Sure there's a ton of stuff happening in London; Ministry of Sound at the O2, Innovation at Fire, Get Loaded in the Dark at Brixton Academy to name a few. However, true mess head recommends this banger - two of London's trendiest promoters in force for a colossal shoreditch raveup. Funktion 1 sound throughout the Basement Club, and with 9 hours of solid noise, it's set to be huge.

Brodinski has had a massive year. Being asked to mix Bugged Out's latest Suck My Deck compilation, collabs with fellow Frenchman Noob, and the huge Eurostar with Mumdance have all helped establish him in the major league.

DJ Mehdi - Pocket Piano (Brodinski Remix)
(320) - Brings the sublime piano loop to a driving techno powerhouse
Noob & Brodinski - Peanuts Club (Jake Simon Remix) (320) - Fidget squeaks and electro stabs. Huge.

Boy 8-Bit is firing now as well. Riding with the Mad Decent crew and reworking the likes of La Roux and Florence and the Machine have made him a name known. His Baltic Pine EP (buy it!) has smashed the beatport charts, and the track itself is sure to be dropped. This guy's style is undefinable!

Jack Beats ft. MC Dynamite - What (Boy 8-Bit Remix) (320) This is a true mess head favourite. That bouncing b-line....
Boy 8-Bit - A City Under Seige (320) - Underrated and epic.

Hannah Holland (apparently I was later told....) gave a massive set at Exit and is sure to repeat. Though not a prolific producer, she's been playing for over 8 years and regularly spins 5 hour sets.

V.V. Brown - Crying Blood (Hannah Holland Remix)
(128) - Much blogged. When the bass gets its groove on you'll see why...

Mumdance is HUGE first off. Remixing Maximo Park in his emerging 'kerplunk' genre, his sound is wild. Fusing carnival sounds with bouncing drums and big bad bass, and running around dubstep, house and fidget without being tied down, expect anything. The Mad Decent Diplo-esque sound shines through tho.

The Whip - Divebomb (Mumdance Remix) (320) - takes the original glitches and whirrs to a kudoro festival. With whistles. And steel drums.

True Mess Head will see you at the front.

George Lenton!

Saturday, 28 November 2009 at 16:42

I dont really know all that much about George Lenton. He uses a mac, he used to be into drum and bass, scratching, dmc battles, and bands, but now makes sample infused dubstep rockers. He makes his own tunes and is also big in the remixes having reworked the likes of Daft Punk and MGMT. Badman.

And you can grab his latest here!
Erik Hassle is swedens current equivalent of Frankmusik but he's put together a pretty huge remix lineup for his latest, hurtful. Mr. Lenton has worked his magic on it and produced a gem!

George Lenton - Cold Rocker Link removed by request

Lastly, everyone ever should watch the video for troll, here. Partly because of the gorilla, partly because of the sick Network sample, and partly because it will fcking destroy your speakers.

If you're in London on december 16th, check the man himself at S.O.M.E, the new dubstep/fidget night at the Den, formerly the End.

Smoke and Fidget - Wearhouse Music Takeover @ Egg, London

Saturday, 5 September 2009 at 17:24

so last night was the first of egg's label showcases, and the guys in question were Wearhouse Music. Lee Mortimer's jackin house imprint is putting out some bombs at the moment and they showed it last night. Mortimer was backed up by Chew The Fat! resident Foamo and fidget star Hijack, all playing rinsing sets.

Definite highlight of the night was bournemouth boy Hijack. He managed to pack out the floor in about 10 minutes of getting his hands on the decks and went on to rip through his huge re-edit catalogue and remixes.

Hijack - Party People (Bootleg) (320)

Foamo and Mortimer kept the vibe going, each smashing out banger-filled sets. Add to that Funktion 1 sound, cheap red stripe and a LOT of smoke machines, Egg's label nights are gonna be huge by the looksa things

BIG DROPS
Foamo and Lee Mortimer - It's Going Down (320)
La Roux - Bulletproof (Foamo's Dubstep Remix) (192)
