Stupid Fresh

Sunday, 11 July 2010 at 12:23

On Friday Night Karakashian and myself hit Noise @ Babalou in Brixton where Stupid Fresh was headlining. Check out his soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/stupidfresh
Some banging tunes on there which can be found on Beatport and Juno Download. Was an awesome night despite one member of the crew (no names being mentioned, but he knows who he is) having to be pretty much carried home, lol!

Anyway back to business. One tune that got the crowd going was Stupid Fresh's own Do The Dog; what an absolute wobbly belter.

You can grab it here at 320

Badman Riddim

Wednesday, 7 July 2010 at 12:34

If you haven't heard of BOKA Records I suggest you check out their catalogue, some seriously heavy dubstep tracks from the likes of; DJ Madd, Jakes, 16Bit and Emalkay!

I have chosen a tune from the Jack Cates EP by JSL (BOKA025) to feature on here as I realised that there isn't much dubstep grime filth on the blog. You can buy the full release here.

The song entitled Badman Riddim is definately BADMAN, despite it coming out at the beginning of the year the chilled out bass sounds are definately for the summer

Daniel Bedingfield

Thursday, 1 July 2010 at 09:37
The other day I decided that I needed some more vinyls and thought what better way to add to my collection than a cheesy classic!

That's right, Gotta Get Thru This by the man himself!

I bought the release RELENT027T, released on 26 Nov 2001 which features;
- Gotta Get Thru This (D'N'D Full Length Version)
- Gotta Get Thru This (Original Version)
- Gotta Get Thru This (Stella Browne Vocal Mix).

I also came across his album entitled 'Gotta Get Thru This' at a charity shop for a mere £2! So bargained that up straight away. Nostalgic times..

Check out his website at http://www.danielbedingfield.com/

Here are 2 versions of the tune:
- Original Full Length Version [320]
- Acoustic Version [320]

Global Gathering!

Wednesday, 30 June 2010 at 09:45
For most of you that don't know Global Gathering is one of the biggest dance music festivals in the UK along with the likes of Creamfields.
Just check this line up out!!

I'm lucky enough to be able to go to Global this year, not only that but going as a VIP! Not to mention I'm gonna be in a chalet/hut type thing with the mrs which has 2 beds in it! Now if that's not how to spend your time at global gathering I don't know what is?!
As you can see from the line up there are A LOT of promising acts! If you go on the website you can see who's on each of the 8 main stages on each of the days. It's gonna be one heck of a 2 days.

People I'm looking forward to seeing the most are:

- Faithless, as I've never seen them before.
- Fedde le Grand, just because he is who he is!
- Booka Shade (Live), will need a deep house fix.
- Friction, because he's a BADMAN on the decks.
- Above & Beyond, because they're just legendary.
- Others include; Spor, Emalkay, Hixxy, Eric Prydz, Kissy Sell Out and possibly Lisa Lashes.

It has been a while since I posted anything which I'm sorry for, will hopefully be posting more stuff on here soon and will deffo let you know about how the festival is!

For now check out my youtube channel and hopefully it will put a smile on your face www.youtube.com/user/danqkewl

Midweek Tunes Vol. 1

Thursday, 4 March 2010 at 11:12
So it's been a while since I've posted anything on here; figured I'd pull my weight instead of just lifting them all the time :P.

March is a massive month for releases and what-not; too many for me to even remember. We all saw the drop of Camo & Krooked's above and beyond (released on Mainframe Recordings) which was pretty decent, but as I've found out quite a lot most full album releases they only have a few good quality tunes on them; i.e sub focus, half the tunes were a let down in my opinion. As you all know we do love a bit of Camo & Krooked on TMH, I've posted Get Funky, Global Warming, No Soul as well as Camo's Lost Heaven (of which a VIP by the deadly duo can be found on their new album; which can be bought here or here)

Personally I think Walk on Air, Tonight and Only Me are the best tracks on the new album.

You want a free tune right? Well I'm not gonna give you one that's on their new album, it's worth buying despite my minor criticism.
This one's called Older Than Yesterday; it's an uplifting song which I think is top notch! [320]

If you want loads of free fidget / electro tunes I highly suggest you check out Mustard Pimps soundcloud at http://soundcloud.com/mustard-pimp, I would definately download Partyshank - Virgin (Mustard Pimp Remix), Beetle Gum, Ohh La La Satan, RER C (Versailles Rive Gauche Edit) to name a few, and yes these are FREE! and most of them are at 320kbps. We do like a bit of Mustard Pimp on TMH as well as Blatta & Inesha, there's a post of their collaboration called Pigeon Flu which can be found here.

Whilst talking about Blatta & Inesha I came across a couple of remixes of theirs the other day which are pretty good. Already posted one song by them, the post can be found here.

I've got 2 remixes by them;
- Urchins Feat Spoek - Tickets (Blatta & Inesha Remix) [320]
- Wiesel & Captin Koma - Die Polizei (Blatta & Inesha Remix) [320]

Maybe one day we'll make it to Italy to see them and all the other Italian fidget heads; e.g. Belzebass, Gigi Barocco and Crookers to name a couple. Check out the sidechain massacre for some nice underground fidget artists here.

Stepping away from fidget and back into the line light that is Drum & Bass we have Spor. He's got a new EP out on Lifted Records released on 24/02/2010 for digital users and comes out on 12/04/2010 for those vinyl lovers out there. It's called conquerors and commoners. All 4 tracks on the EP are absolutely banging! My favourite track is called Halogen.
You can grab it here at 320!

Let's also talk about the weekend I've got planned while I'm still here. Tomorrow is Friday and I'm making the long journey to Exeter to see Scratch Perverts, Jack Beats, Utah Saints and Reso. Here is a flyer for the event:

The only shit thing about it is that it is from 9pm till 2am, which is not what I'm used to when going out in London, but hey at least I get to have some nice West country cider ;). Check out Jack Beats' essential mix which was made a couple of weeks ago, pretty good stuff!

Then on Saturday Jongles and myself are heading upto Plymouth in order to see Cyantific (who is going to have a 3 deck setup!) and Sigma. It's in a small(ish) club with a 12k soundsystem. Lots to look forward to so no doubt I'll be taking my ear plugs for this weekend away.

That's all for now, see you Gs next week!

Thursday, 21 January 2010 at 17:00

First one came out just over a week ago, its Calvertron's take on Teed Off by Donald Glaude [320]

Second one is by one half of what used to be Stupid Fresh; Nom de Strip - Flapjack [320]

Third one is Claude von Strokes take on Put Your Hands up by the legend Fedde, always listen to this before I have a heavy night out [225vbr]

Last one is an absolute electro beat! It's Rock Massive - You Know Why (PH Electro Mix) [320]

Stay updated!

The Subs - Mitsubitchi (Tea Time Remix) [320]

Tune of the week 4/01/2010

Tuesday, 5 January 2010 at 17:16

First tune of the week of the year. This is a dubstep bomb released on the album The Best Of Stupid Fly Records Volume 1 which is amazing and can be purchased here.

Overall it's a pretty decent album, but not one you can listen to over and over, it's more the sort of thing that can be played in background.

My favourite song is Dash Exp - Dried Up (Joint Forces Remix) which can be found here [320]
I love the lyrical sample in it!

Tunes of the week 28/12/2009

Tuesday, 29 December 2009 at 17:27
This first track isn't the normal sorta thing we post on here but it's a tune from earlier on in the year which was at beatports No. 1 house download spot. It's a Tech-House killer from Tek-DiLuxe, whom I know nothing about lol.

The second track is by an up and coming producer called Rollz who I also know nothing about other than he/they are sick!! Check out plugged in as well as the tune posted below.

Phat lady sings.

Bugged Out vs Trailer Trash NYE

at 16:08

Party people! The mother of diary dates is here, new years eve. Sure there's a ton of stuff happening in London; Ministry of Sound at the O2, Innovation at Fire, Get Loaded in the Dark at Brixton Academy to name a few. However, true mess head recommends this banger - two of London's trendiest promoters in force for a colossal shoreditch raveup. Funktion 1 sound throughout the Basement Club, and with 9 hours of solid noise, it's set to be huge.

Brodinski has had a massive year. Being asked to mix Bugged Out's latest Suck My Deck compilation, collabs with fellow Frenchman Noob, and the huge Eurostar with Mumdance have all helped establish him in the major league.

DJ Mehdi - Pocket Piano (Brodinski Remix)
(320) - Brings the sublime piano loop to a driving techno powerhouse
Noob & Brodinski - Peanuts Club (Jake Simon Remix) (320) - Fidget squeaks and electro stabs. Huge.

Boy 8-Bit is firing now as well. Riding with the Mad Decent crew and reworking the likes of La Roux and Florence and the Machine have made him a name known. His Baltic Pine EP (buy it!) has smashed the beatport charts, and the track itself is sure to be dropped. This guy's style is undefinable!

Jack Beats ft. MC Dynamite - What (Boy 8-Bit Remix) (320) This is a true mess head favourite. That bouncing b-line....
Boy 8-Bit - A City Under Seige (320) - Underrated and epic.

Hannah Holland (apparently I was later told....) gave a massive set at Exit and is sure to repeat. Though not a prolific producer, she's been playing for over 8 years and regularly spins 5 hour sets.

V.V. Brown - Crying Blood (Hannah Holland Remix)
(128) - Much blogged. When the bass gets its groove on you'll see why...

Mumdance is HUGE first off. Remixing Maximo Park in his emerging 'kerplunk' genre, his sound is wild. Fusing carnival sounds with bouncing drums and big bad bass, and running around dubstep, house and fidget without being tied down, expect anything. The Mad Decent Diplo-esque sound shines through tho.

The Whip - Divebomb (Mumdance Remix) (320) - takes the original glitches and whirrs to a kudoro festival. With whistles. And steel drums.

True Mess Head will see you at the front.

Tunes of the week 21/12/2009

Monday, 21 December 2009 at 14:26

Found this one laying around on my computer and OH MY GOD! What a song, wobbly dubstep-fidget (fidgestep?) lol. This is huge, bigger than that fat woman you saw walking down the street trying to hold all her christmas shopping on her stogey fingers slipping over on the ice and landing on her fat ass!

Bird Peterson - Zutopong [320]

Found this one whilst stuck at home in the snow, what a filthy DnB song. Don't know anything about the artists but I think this track can say a lot for them :)

Receptor & Kubrak - 24 Kornerz (Slam Slam) [320]

Tune of the week

Monday, 14 December 2009 at 10:54
Got 2 fidget bangers for you this week. The first one is the awesome new release from TJR called Booty Move, no doubt one of the most anticipated releases of the year. This one is the Potato Heads remix of it, I prefer it to be honest!

The second one is a Mightyfools remix of Oh Snap, an up and coming DJ/Producer from the States.
Oh Snap!! - Plus Size Model (Mightyfools Remix) [320]

TJR - Booth Move (Potato Heads Remix) [320]
Peace

Tunes of the week 7/11/2009

Monday, 7 December 2009 at 12:28

Right I've got one classic by Royksopp which has been remixed by about 50 different people but I'm putting up Trentmollers one. Massive massive chuune from back in the day.

The second one is an absolute DnB banger by Austrian quartet Fourward called Blur, from their release DISTURBED019.

The third one is a liquid tune called 7th state of matter by Puzzle. Even tho liquid isn't really my thing I think the track is sick.

Here are the links:

Royksopp - Where is it? (Trentmoller remix) [320]
Fourward - Blur [320]
Puzzle - 7th State of matter [320]

Stay tuned for more tunes

True Funky Tune

This one is called Comma by Son of a Cheeky Boy.

Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, Pizzaman, and Mighty Dub Katz, made this funky disco single under yet another alias, Son of a Cheeky Boy.

The original is from 1997! Nice little fact for ya there.

Here it is [320]
