Tunes of the week 28/12/2009

Tuesday, 29 December 2009 at 17:27
This first track isn't the normal sorta thing we post on here but it's a tune from earlier on in the year which was at beatports No. 1 house download spot. It's a Tech-House killer from Tek-DiLuxe, whom I know nothing about lol.

The second track is by an up and coming producer called Rollz who I also know nothing about other than he/they are sick!! Check out plugged in as well as the tune posted below.

Phat lady sings.

Bugged Out vs Trailer Trash NYE

at 16:08

Party people! The mother of diary dates is here, new years eve. Sure there's a ton of stuff happening in London; Ministry of Sound at the O2, Innovation at Fire, Get Loaded in the Dark at Brixton Academy to name a few. However, true mess head recommends this banger - two of London's trendiest promoters in force for a colossal shoreditch raveup. Funktion 1 sound throughout the Basement Club, and with 9 hours of solid noise, it's set to be huge.

Brodinski has had a massive year. Being asked to mix Bugged Out's latest Suck My Deck compilation, collabs with fellow Frenchman Noob, and the huge Eurostar with Mumdance have all helped establish him in the major league.

DJ Mehdi - Pocket Piano (Brodinski Remix)
(320) - Brings the sublime piano loop to a driving techno powerhouse
Noob & Brodinski - Peanuts Club (Jake Simon Remix) (320) - Fidget squeaks and electro stabs. Huge.

Boy 8-Bit is firing now as well. Riding with the Mad Decent crew and reworking the likes of La Roux and Florence and the Machine have made him a name known. His Baltic Pine EP (buy it!) has smashed the beatport charts, and the track itself is sure to be dropped. This guy's style is undefinable!

Jack Beats ft. MC Dynamite - What (Boy 8-Bit Remix) (320) This is a true mess head favourite. That bouncing b-line....
Boy 8-Bit - A City Under Seige (320) - Underrated and epic.

Hannah Holland (apparently I was later told....) gave a massive set at Exit and is sure to repeat. Though not a prolific producer, she's been playing for over 8 years and regularly spins 5 hour sets.

V.V. Brown - Crying Blood (Hannah Holland Remix)
(128) - Much blogged. When the bass gets its groove on you'll see why...

Mumdance is HUGE first off. Remixing Maximo Park in his emerging 'kerplunk' genre, his sound is wild. Fusing carnival sounds with bouncing drums and big bad bass, and running around dubstep, house and fidget without being tied down, expect anything. The Mad Decent Diplo-esque sound shines through tho.

The Whip - Divebomb (Mumdance Remix) (320) - takes the original glitches and whirrs to a kudoro festival. With whistles. And steel drums.

True Mess Head will see you at the front.

Tunes of the week 21/12/2009

Found this one laying around on my computer and OH MY GOD! What a song, wobbly dubstep-fidget (fidgestep?) lol. This is huge, bigger than that fat woman you saw walking down the street trying to hold all her christmas shopping on her stogey fingers slipping over on the ice and landing on her fat ass!

Bird Peterson - Zutopong [320]

Found this one whilst stuck at home in the snow, what a filthy DnB song. Don't know anything about the artists but I think this track can say a lot for them :)

Receptor & Kubrak - 24 Kornerz (Slam Slam) [320]

Christmas basss

New Lee Mortimer and Foamo

This promo snippet has JUST been put on YouTube - as I write it has 6 plays!

Check it - it's a funky disco slice of fidget bassline. If that makes any sense.

A whole lotta posts coming soon...

Got 2 fidget bangers for you this week. The first one is the awesome new release from TJR called Booty Move, no doubt one of the most anticipated releases of the year. This one is the Potato Heads remix of it, I prefer it to be honest!

The second one is a Mightyfools remix of Oh Snap, an up and coming DJ/Producer from the States.
Oh Snap!! - Plus Size Model (Mightyfools Remix) [320]

TJR - Booth Move (Potato Heads Remix) [320]
Peace

Tunes of the week 7/11/2009

Right I've got one classic by Royksopp which has been remixed by about 50 different people but I'm putting up Trentmollers one. Massive massive chuune from back in the day.

The second one is an absolute DnB banger by Austrian quartet Fourward called Blur, from their release DISTURBED019.

The third one is a liquid tune called 7th state of matter by Puzzle. Even tho liquid isn't really my thing I think the track is sick.

Here are the links:

Royksopp - Where is it? (Trentmoller remix) [320]
Fourward - Blur [320]
Puzzle - 7th State of matter [320]

Stay tuned for more tunes

OHO! Blatta. And Inesha. And Mustard Pimp!

Thursday, 3 December 2009 at 04:58

I was gonna say the best things come in trios but I realised there are two guys in Mustard Pimp. Pshhhh, there are still some sweet things that are 4s....?

4x4 music (aka bassline for my sheffield peeps)
4 people for a double date.
...Foursome?

screw it, the point is both of these artists are big in the game. True Mess Head favourites Blatta and Inesha are blowing up Italy and Mustard Pimp are killing everything they touch. I virtually have their fresh prince remix on repeat. So when two tribes go to war...

This week is a stonker for music in Sheffield. If you got the stamina, I got something for you pretty much every night this week. Hit it hard then recover. Its the only way.

Tuesday:

Tuesday Club featuring Major Lazer Soundsystem & Mumdance

Major Lazer are Diplo & Switch. Two huge DJ/Producers joining forces to create a super duper group. Their track 'Pon De Floor' was probably one of the most remixed tunes this year, being dropped in sets at all the festivals this year! Tuesday Club has bagged themselves a massive act who are only touring at a handful of places in the U.K. Throw in super hot Mumdance and its an orgy! For £6.50 advance its a bargain. True Mess Head recommends!

Thursday:

Vibes Alive @ Prive featuring Goldie Locks & Tomb Crew

The baddest crew in the World arrive in the city of Steel to party like only they know how. Vibes Alive has given Thursday's a fresh new lick of paint and week in week out gets banging artists down into the Cellar to drop dirty tunes. Whether there's six of them or 2 of them they pump out the garage, jungle, bassline, electro.. you name it they got it. So get your ass down to Cellar 35 for Prive to join in the party! You've had a day off recovering so no excuses.

Friday:

Bigger Than Barry - Joker, L-Vis 1990 @ DQ

Joker is fast becoming the prince of dubstep his stock is on the rise! His productions are slick and varied, remixing the likes of Simian Mobile Disco & Basement Jaxx. He rips it up in Bristol and now he's coming to Sheff to do the same. For £5 and cheap as chips drinks in DQ how can you say no. True Mess Head recommends!

Saturday:

Shuffle presents Sebastien Leger & Jesper Dahlback @ Plug

Shuffle presents a stellar billing of tech-house & techno. Two heavyweights in the game come to rock Plug to its core. Its Leger's 3rd time here and Dahlback is making his debut. John his younger cousin was her in May and smashed so I hope it runs in the family. £5 again and with shot hour running from 1-2 down those sambucas fast and start dancing.

Enjoy it & party hard :D
